The DCCH Housing and Commercial Development Division is a driving force in the provision of balanced, whole-life opportunity for residents of Columbia Heights. The three elements of DCCH's agenda work together as a synergystic loop: to develop and preserve affordable housing that enables residents to stay in their community, to vitalize economic development through establishing new commercial opportunities and, thereby, to deliver jobs in the community context where people are rooted, where they live and make a difference.

Rainbow Triangle: Neighborhood Jobs+Affordable Housing+Commercial Development=Balanced, Whole-Life Opportunity
The Housing and Commercial Development Division has delivered more than 131 units of affordable housing for low and moderate-income families since its first project in 1991. Completed commercial development projects include the headquarters for the multi-service Latin American Youth Center (LAYC) and the Nehemiah Retail Center. Latin American Youth Center
