Our current projects tackle
the scarcity of affordable housing, retail, office and community
spaces in the District of Columbia with outside-the-box thinking
and innovative strategies:
Development and sale of market-priced
housing to subsidize jointly or subsequently developed moderate-income
single family homes (Scattered Sites)
Partnering with tenant associations to
renovate and recycle expired HUD projects and other difficult
properties as co-operatively owned low-income housing (the
Pool-Bundle Project, Fairmont I & II, Parcel 34).
Community resident prioritization for
jobs and discounted rates for community entrepreneurs in DCCH-partnered
commercial projects support cash flows that stay within the
community to generate powerful feedback loops, allowing families
and individuals to better meet their needs for work, housing,
food and consumer goods while minimizing the time and resources
required to meet those needs elsewhere (Tivoli
Square, DC USA).
