In this Startup Saturday Entrepreneurship class...
The foundation of the Lean Startup curriculum is evidence-based entrepreneurship. Instead of creating an intricate business plan, participants summarize their hypotheses in a framework called a Business Model Canvas. Essentially, this is a diagram of how a company will create value for itself and its customers. Lean Startups use a “get out of the building” approach called Customer Development to test their hypotheses and collect evidence about whether they are true or false. They go out and ask potential users, purchasers, and partners for feedback on all elements of the business model, including product features, pricing, distribution channels, and affordable customer acquisition strategies. The Business Model Canvas represents a company in nine boxes, depicting the details of a company’s product, customers, channels, demand creation, revenue models, partners, resources, activities, and cost structure.
No reading textbooks, case studies or developing papers! Participants are inspired to interact with industry and focus on developing a business model to scale and grow their venture using the Business Model Canvas.
We currently have 10 sessions planned on Saturdays from 10am – 12:30pm; February 9, through April 27, 2019. The workshops are stand-alone, ensuring small business owners can select classes is most convenient to them. The workshops are free, but do require advance registration.
